Darcy O’Rourke – Financial Adviser

Most people in their 50s and 60s have a general sense of where they’re at financially.

Not a clear picture. A general sense.

That gap between “I think we’re okay” and actually knowing, is where a lot of retirement plans quietly fall apart. Especially right now, with interest rates, global markets, and superannuation rules all moving at once.

A Wealth Review cuts through all of that. We sit down, go through your actual numbers, and give you a straight picture of where things stand and what, if anything, needs to change.

How it works

Step 1
Understand what your financial position looks like

Most people heading towards retirement don’t actually know how they stand financially. We’ll show you how your current financial situation stacks up taking into account your super, property, shares and loans.

Step 2
See where your investments are headed

Understanding how you stand financially now is important. It’s even more important to know how your situation will track over time. We will complete a financial projection for you showing how your assets and liabilities will change over time throughout retirement.

Step 3
Find out if anything is quietly costing you

Some of the most expensive mistakes in retirement planning are the ones nobody flags until it’s too late to fix them. We’ll go through your current setup and tell you if there are any major red flags or roadblocks to living the retirement you want.

Step 4
Understand what a good retirement plan looks like

We will explain what a good retirement plan actually looks like. The actual strategies that show up in the best outcomes we see. If we believe it would be valuable to work together and develop a personalised financial plan, we will explain how this works and provide a quote on costs. Taking up an offer of a financial plan is completely optional.

Frequently Asked Questions

We don’t take payment until the end of the session. If you don’t feel it was valuable, you don’t pay.

Your most recent super statement, details of any other investments or debts you hold, and anything else you think is relevant to your financial position. If you can log into your super fund online, that works too.

The Wealth Review includes general financial advice only. To provide personal financial advice, we’re legally required to produce a financial plan also called a Statement of Advice. If that’s something you’d like to explore, we can talk through how it works at the end of the session.

Around 60 minutes, sometimes a little more if your situation is complex or you have a lot of questions.

Yes. Darcy is listed on the ASIC Financial Adviser Register (number 001252661), where you can independently verify his qualifications and history. Barwon Finance operates under an AFSL issued and regulated by ASIC. We’d encourage you to check the register for any adviser you’re considering.

Not really. Some people do go on to work with us, but this session is designed to be useful regardless. If you want to take the information and act on it yourself, you’re completely free to do that. It’s why we charge for the session rather than offer it free.

If you’re within 15 years of retirement and not 100% certain your finances are where they should be, you’re probably the right fit. We confirm every booking with a quick call beforehand. If it’s not a match, we’ll tell you and there’s no charge.

Yes. Barwon Finance is family owned, and our licensee Lifespan Financial Planning is independently owned with no bank ties. Like most advisers, we can receive standardised commissions on insurance products, which is why we don’t use the term “independent adviser.” It has a specific legal definition we don’t meet on that basis alone.
